Family Reading at E.B. Devesinha: A Creative Adventure
As part of the eTwinning project “Stories to Play”, E.B. Devesinha promoted a special “Family Storytelling” activity.
Student C.F. (class B) invited her uncle to read, with her, the book “The Story of a Button”, written by Maria João Carvalho and illustrated by Fátima Afonso. This activity took place in the School Library and was attended by the eTwinners classes from 1st A and 2nd B. All the students listened attentively to the adventures of a round button that was initially locked inside a sewing box, but dreamed of jumping out and seeing the world. One day, the box opened and the button's dream began to come true, and he ended up living a happy life...
At the end, C.F. thanked her uncle by reading a poem by Fernando Pessoa, written on a small card to give him.
In the classroom, student C.F. challenged her classmates to create stories based on a button glued to a blank sheet of paper, resulting in very creative drawings and oral narratives.
This initiative highlighted the importance of involving families in school to foster a taste for and habits of reading.
